Here is the last part of our International Women’s Week campaign, here are the final 2 women (including myself) that contributed to the Women at Espial campaign.

1. Lena Vakulenko, Graphic Designer (7 months at Espial)

What is your favorite women’s day quote (or women empowerment quote)?

“Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars.”

What does that quote mean to you?

It encourages me to work hard and never give up.

When you hear this quote, does this make you think of 1 woman that has inspired you? If yes, who?

My mom.

What does women’s day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to honor the women close to you, the women who bring joy to your life and let them know that you appreciate them.

2. Valerie Mayer, Marketing Coordinator (2 months at Espial)

What is your favorite women’s day quote (or women empowerment quote)?

The quote that stood out to me the most over the years is from an unknown author unfortunately: “The strongest actions for a woman is to love herself, be herself and shine amongst those who never believed she could.”

What does that quote mean to you?

So many times, people focus on how a woman looks instead of what she says or what she does: I have personally experienced this in my life and perhaps a lot of women can agree or disagree with me on this. As much as these dynamics are starting to change, there still is a double-standard that women must face, and I love this quote because of the message it conveys. You can’t care about what people think, you can only love yourself and chase your dreams – the rest is just useless noise. Women are supposed to raise each other up not tare each other down and I’m beyond excited to see what this change in attitude will do for young women in generations to come.

When you hear this quote, does this make you think of 1 woman that has inspired you? If yes, who?

My grand-mother. She was my rock growing up. Even though she wasn’t the most educated woman (didn’t complete her high-school) her warmth and resilience always inspired me. When she unfortunately passed away it was incredibly difficult but her strength to shine amongst those who never believed she could, is what drives me to pursue my dreams every day and to be as resilient as she was.

What does women’s day mean to you?

There’s another quote that I love: “behind every successful woman is herself”. I would like to add to that quote by saying that behind every successful woman is other women. When I’m going through hardships, I can always count on the women in my life to raise me up (with a box of wine most of the times). We laugh, we cry, we talk but most importantly, we support each other and raise each other up. I know it sounds cheesy because not all women are like this and that’s okay but celebrating the importance of women around the world is powerful and should never be taken lightly. As a God mother to a beautiful and fierce little girl, I never want her light to dim – I just want her fierceness to grow as she does (she’s the cute little princess with me in the picture)!

Thank you to all the women who volunteered for our Women’s at Espial campaign – I am beyond inspired and honored to be working by your side every single day.
