Orange, one of the world’s largest mobile operators with 244M subscribers in 30 countries across the globe, knew that TV wasn’t just for the living room anymore and needed a solution to connect internet browsing, advanced TV functionality and mobile. Up against new international OTT competitors, they wanted to bring to their consumers a cost effective device that combined convenience and a great user experience. In response to these pressures, Orange launched the La Clé TV a new consumer streaming device powered by Espial HTML5 client software.
La Clé TV provides European consumers with a rich set of video services including Live TV, Catch-Up TV, managed VOD portals, access to premium music, Over-the-top (OTT) video services, and an ecosystem of applications on an HDMI stick. Through the Orange TV Stick, viewers can share and enjoy their personal contents on TV, as well as pilot live TV through an application available for tablets and smartphones. Built with advanced HTML5 Client software from Espial, Orange TV delivers a high-end user experience.
The Orange TV Stick also enables a secure Wi-Fi connection, and can be plugged into a variety of screens, including TVs and laptops so subscribers can connect on their favorite device, wherever they are. It creates a seamless experience between broadband and mobile services and reaches a critical milestone in Orange’s convergent strategy. La Clé TV has currently been launched in France and Romania.
“Espial’s software excellence and their on-time delivery have been highly appreciated,” said Martin Conan, OTT Box Director of Orange. “Espial’s HTML5 Client solution enabled us to create a user experience where Orange customers can seamlessly navigate traditional TV, on-demand, and internet-based services.”
